FAQ & Legal — AntiRapeGear

AntiRapeGear provides lawful, non-harmful personal safety and identification tools designed for civilians in the United Kingdom and European Union.

This page explains product legality, safety guidance, limitations, and responsibilities for all AntiRapeGear products.

What is AntiRapeGear?

AntiRapeGear supplies non-violent, non-irritant civilian safety equipment designed to increase visibility, draw attention, and assist in post-incident identification.

Our products do not cause pain, injury, or incapacitation.

Products include:

• Identifier Spray (Red)

• Identifier Spray (Alternative Colours, where applicable)

• DrinkCheck Wristband

• Drink Test Strips

• PowBee Personal Alarm (3-Pack)

• Guardian Scrunchie (2-Pack)

• SafeSip Bottle Stoppers (6-Pack)

Are your sprays legal in the UK?

Yes.

Our identifier sprays:

• contain no noxious or irritant substances,

• do not use chemicals listed under prohibited items,

• are classified as civilian marking/identifier sprays.

They do not fall under Section 5(1)(b) of the Firearms Act 1968, which prohibits weapons designed to discharge a noxious liquid or gas.

They are lawful to buy, own, and carry in the UK when used responsibly.

Are your sprays legal in the EU?

Most EU member states permit non-irritant, non-harmful marking sprays when:

• the spray contains no CS, CN, PAVA, pepper, capsaicin, or other irritants;

• the product is marketed as a marking/identification tool;

• the use is non-violent and proportionate;

• the product complies with local consumer-safety regulations.

Users are responsible for checking local rules before purchase or use.

Do your sprays harm or injure someone?

No.

The sprays contain marking dye only.

There are no chemicals intended to harm, incapacitate, or inflict pain.

However, the product must never be aimed at eyes or used aggressively.

Can the dye be washed off?

The dye fades gradually but cannot be fully removed immediately.

This supports later identification by security personnel, witnesses, or authorities.

Is this the same as pepper spray?

No. Pepper spray, tear gas, CS gas, and PAVA sprays are all prohibited weapons in the UK.

Our products do not contain any such chemicals.

What are the limitations of the spray?

It cannot:

• stop, restrain, or incapacitate an attacker

• substitute for contacting authorities

• guarantee personal safety

• prevent crime

• confirm the identity of an unknown person on its own

It is a visibility and evidence-support tool only.

PowBee Personal Alarm — Safety & Legal Notes

The PowBee alarm emits a loud decibel output designed to attract attention.

Risks and safety points:

• prolonged exposure to loud alarms may cause temporary or permanent hearing discomfort

• use in confined spaces may increase sound intensity

• keep away from ears, children, and vulnerable individuals

• misuse (such as activating directly next to someone’s ear) may cause unintended harm

The alarm must only be activated in genuine emergencies.

DrinkCheck Wristband — Safety Notes

This product helps monitor whether drinks have been tampered with by alerting the user to unexpected colour changes.

Limitations:

• no drink-testing method is 100% accurate

• results may vary based on lighting, temperature, or drink type

• a normal result does not guarantee safety

• false positives or false negatives are possible

Users must remain cautious regardless of test results.

Drink Test Strips — Limitations and Disclaimer

These strips are designed to detect certain commonly used substances but cannot test for all harmful chemicals.

Limitations include:

• cannot detect every substance

• may be affected by drink acidity or carbonation

• lighting conditions may affect reading

• not a medical-grade device

• results are advisory only

A “safe” result must never be taken as confirmation that a drink is safe.

Guardian Scrunchie (2-Pack)

These scrunchies include drink-cover functionality.

Limitations:

• scrunchie covers reduce but do not eliminate tampering risk

• does not protect against pre-mixed contamination

• user must ensure the cover is placed correctly over the drink

• must be removed before consuming hot drinks due to risk of heat damage

SafeSip Bottle Stoppers (6-Pack)

Designed to seal bottles and prevent contamination or spillage.

Limitations:

• fits most but not all bottle neck sizes

• does not sterilise or purify drinks

• cannot prevent contamination before the stopper is applied

• should not be exposed to extreme temperatures

Does this replace contacting authorities?

No.

All AntiRapeGear products are supplementary tools.

Always contact emergency services immediately if safety concerns arise.

Is this equipment safe to carry?

Yes, when stored and used correctly.

Damaging or modifying any product voids all warranties and may breach safety rules.
